New Year's Resolution 2015

1. Healthy Eating:
Yes, I can already read you're mind: "everyone makes that resolution" but, mine is a little different. I have iron-deficient anemia (not sickle cell, thank the lord) which causes me to feel drowsy and have chronic headaches if my hemoglobin count falls under 12.5. I was first diagnosed in 2012 during my Sophomore year in high school and I immediately adapted my diet to become healthier and I was able to live with these. Recently, college life has affected me and my health went on a slow decline. Without my lovely (nagging) parents, I didn't take my iron supplements or eat lots of raisins (help absorb iron) and spinach (iron filled). I have since started feeling similar to before I was diagnosed and I need to change that. I will keep a tiny little food journal so that I can track my diet much better and try to be more motivated than I was last semester.

2. Exercise
I go to the University of Central Florida which literally built a state-of-the-art (as seen below) only 2 years ago and I don't even use it. It's "free" as in there is no membership fee but, it is a fee included in Tuition for 14.32 fee PER credit hour (it will be about 190 this semester for 13 credit hours). I might as well use it because I am paying for it. I am not going to make some ridiculous goal of going to the gym 5 times a week every week but, I will try and exercise about 30 minutes a week which, even with my busy schedule shouldn't be too terribly hard.

3.Spend WAY less on makeup:
I know this might be a hard one to keep up with but, I will try. I own a lot of makeup. It is not some $5,000 collection you'll see giant beauty gurus on youtube have but, it is still a lot more than the average person. I will obviously replace things like foundation, concealer, primer and mascara as these tend to have shorter shelf lives but, other products like lipstick, eye shadow, eyeliner, lipgloss and brushes will not garner as much money as typical. I will definitely be shopping more sales, clearance and places like hautelook to save money because it is hard to justify spending $22 on a single lipstick when I have buy textbooks every semester for $50+ a book.

4. Create a blog schedule:
I pretty much post really randomly here and I feel like an actual schedule would help me feel more organized. Look for my new posts every Monday and Friday in 2015!

5. Study Schedule:
I have an incredibly hard semester coming up with Organic Chemistry I, Microbiology Lecture and Lab, Neurobiology and Intro to Medical Careers. Even though it is 13 credit hours, it will be 13 incredibly demanding hours. I just got a Kate Spade Planner for 2015 and since it is incredibly cute and well organized, I believe it will help to inspire me to continually use it. I have tried to do this in the past, but only succeed for the first month or two. I want 2015 to be different and with this difficult schedule, it might just have to be.

6. Read the bible cover to cover:
I am a Christian (sorry if you don't agree but, it is what I truly believe and I'll accept you as who you are if you believe differently) and I have never read the bible thoroughly. I know all of the main parts like the Birth, Persecution, Death and Rising of Jesus Christ, Moses freeing the Jews, Adam and Eve and others like it but, I do not have much knowledge past that and I feel really ashamed about it. I am obviously not going to read it in a day but, my goal is to finish it my December 31st, 2015.

7. Be Calm:
Every so often I have that moment in my car, driving on I-95 to school with a person tailgating me in my car in which I just get really angry at the meanness of this person on my bumper for no reason. In the grand scheme of things, this really has no effect on my life whatsoever and I need to keep my cool. I feel like these little changes will help to make me happier all around if I just keep my cool.

8. Volunteer more:
Last semester, I volunteered at the food pantry on UCF's campus and I absolutely loved every minute of it. I still plan on volunteering my time to this organization but, I want to expand my horizons to other great organizations. I have no idea what organizations yet but, I hope to figure it out soon. If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them in the comments below!!
9. Declutter everything:
I want to get rid of a lot of stuff I don't use. I'm talking makeup, clothes, shoes, jewelry. etc. I plan on selling some to Plato's closet and donating the rest to the salvation army. I will have a series going on the blog soon!

10. Spend less time on the internet:
This will be incredibly hard but, it will be worth it. I find myself sitting down for multiple hours on end surfing the interweb doing nothing productive. That time could be better spent on some of my other resolutions above. I will still have to use the internet obviously or I just wouldn't have a blog or a way to do homework but, I use the internet as a way to avoid things like chores. I mean why clean your room or do laundry when videos of dogs on roombas or tiny hamsters eating tiny burritos exist?? (watch it the dogs there and the tiny hamsters here), Although these videos will still demand my attention, it will be on a much smaller scale than typical.

What are your resolutions? Are any of them similar to mine? Comment down below!!!

Covergirl LashBlast Volume Mascara Review

I know this Mascara is basically a staple in the Covergirl Collection but, I haven't given it a try (quite late to the party). Here is what it looks like:
Look at this brush! It is quite brilliant how great the brush is made. The rubber bristle are a good spacing to separate your lash and I have not experienced any clumping with this mascara yet!

The wand I think is a good size to help control your application and keep from messing up or letting it go on to heavy. It is easy to hold and easy to use.

The formula is the best part. I think it is a little on the wetter side for a mascara (which I am okay with). It takes a decent amount of time to dry (about a minute or two). I love that it is buildable. You could achieve an everyday look or a dramatic night out. The mascara overall is very versatile.

Look at that separation and volume! I love how it looks!

Have you tried this mascara? How do you like the look? Sound off in the comments down below!

Drugstore Haul: Walgreen's Clearance!

I went to Walgreens and they had so many different things on clearance! So I decided to pick up some stuff! Here it is:

This Wet n Wild Fergie Bronzer is really pretty! The packaging is really bulky and you get a TON of product. The bronzer itself is gorgeous but, for my skin tone I think it is a little too orange. I think I might actually try this as an eyeshadow.
These NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils are AMAZING. Literally stay all day, provide a great base for eyeshadow and there is no need for a primer! I got 602, 603 and 617. I really want to get the White one that tons of bloggers rave about. They are well worth the money!

I have never tried a Revlon Lip Butter before and I have been missing out! These are incredibly moisturizing and the tint they leave is really pretty! I picked up Watermelon  and Fig. I like the Fig shade more because it is a great fall color. I'll probably go for the Watermelon shade in the summertime.

The Wet n Wild Fergie Vicious Varnish High Shine Lip Stain were a miss for me. I got Throwing Shade and Giving Realness. The formula was really thick for a lip stain. The staying power is impressive but, the formula is just not for me. I found it to feel uncomfortable and it felt really drying. The nude shade was not a good match for me. I will definitely be finding them a new home... in the trash.

This Milani Liquid Color in Fiery Coral is MUCH better than the Fergie. This feels like a lipgloss but, has a great staining effect. The color pigmentation is off the charts and my lips didn't actually dry out. I loved this but, it will be a special occasion color!

The Revlon Nearly Naked was only $5. Not bad for a foundation! I haven't tried it yet so no feedback to give as on now.

Ulta Black Friday Haul 2014

So +ULTA Beauty  had some incredible deals on Black Friday I just had to take advantage of. I probably picked up way too much but, since I have had time to use most of my purchases, I am incredibly happy with everything I got! Warning: this is A LOT of makeup! You have been warned! Here is everything:
I told you! The Organix Shampoo and Conditioner in Acai Berry Avocado is my go to shampoo and conditioner! I love that it smells great and help combat frizz, dryness and damaging effects. This was BOGO free which RARELY ever happens anywhere so I picked up two sets because I will definitely use these up!

Ulta had five for $5 deals with a mix of different items. The Ulta Matte Lip Crayons in Hazy Pink and Raspberry Rose feels moisturizing when put and has great pigmentation. However, without a lip balm underneath, it is really drying on the center parts of the lips. With a lip balm underneath the feel great. They last about 5 hours and definitely need reapplication after eating or drinking but, for only $1 each, they aren't too shabby (especially the original price is $8).

Some of the cute little five for $5 deals included this item! I figured this Chi Silk Infusion would be an awesome stocking stuffer for someone who travels frequently! This product is a cult favorite and it really is just great for your hair to make it soft, silky and shiny. (Value: $2.13)
Montagne Jennesse is a fantastic skincare brand when it comes to mask! They had tons of different types anywhere from stress release to pore unclogging. This green tea peel off is a classic because it is great for pore unclogging and will make your skin feel super soft! This was part of the five for $5 deal too!(Value: $1.99 each)

I couldn't picking up one of the best hair sprays ever made! The Big Sexy Hair Spray and Play was only $6.95 (literally over 60% off). It is just a great hair spray I love to use all the time. The hold is incredible and I don't find it to give my hair that awful crunchy feeling some hair sprays do.

Urban Decays Big Fatty Mascara was only $10 (50% off of $20). I haven't tried it yet but I will update when I do!

This +tarte cosmetics  Gift Set was an great value! I got a full size Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara ($20 regular prive), a full size LiSurgence Lip gloss ($19 regular price) and a faux lash fiber sample ($4 value). When you look at the price of $19 for the total set, you save $1 on buying just one mascara or your paying the full price of the lip gloss while getting the full value of the rest. I already love the mascara because it dries fast, separates well and gives some great volume. The lip gloss is very moisturizing and pigmented. I love the way it feels and it is a great topper to any lipstick! I have not tried the faux lashes yet but, I am eager and will update on later!

+Laura Geller Beauty is a brand I am not familiar with until now! I saw this set and couldn't resist the great value! It comes with a Eye Calligraphy Liner ($20), lipstick ($21), eyeshadow ($24), mascara ($12.5 value) and a primer ($12.5). This is an incredible set to try out Laura Geller set! The eye liner is really easy to use, has a felt tip applicator, great pigmentation, smooth application and a no smudge formula. The lipstick is ultra pigmented (this one in particular is great for that really true red), the formula is moisturized and won't dry your lips, and it applies smoothly. The eyeshadow is a gorgeous champagne shade perfect for everyday looks, highlighting in the inner corner or brow bone and could be used as a soft highlight on the cheeks!

Out of everything I bought, this set was my favorite. +Benefit Cosmetics is known for their fantastic box blushes and this one came at an EXTREME value. This blush in bella bamba is a gorgoues coral shade with gold shimmer that doesn't require a highlight! The blush last all day, has great pigmentation and feels buttery soft to the touch. The lipgloss was a nice compliment to the blush with it also having a coral sheen to it. The lipgloss was sheer and non sticky. Benefit blushes typically cost $28 which is quite a bit and the lip gloss costs $14 so to have this set at $18 and have both products at full size is crazy! Best purchase overall!

Sephora Black Friday Haul 2014

I got two presents from Sephora for my birthday courtesy of my sister! These bad boys were both part of the Black Friday $10 deals that Sephora champions every year!
This Tarte Sweet Dreams set came with a deluxe Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara, deluxe tarte lipsugence lip gloss and a deluxe 12 hour clay blush in magic. This is not too shabby for $10 bucks. I thought my sister chose well! I have tried the mascara and lip gloss before and I love them (see my ulta haul for more). Here they are below:

The blush was a first time for me and I found it to be very pigmented, soft and easy to apply. This shade in particular gives you are great pink hue that looks very natural.

The packaging is really pretty and holiday-ish!

The lip gloss in pink with gold shimmer.

The Smashbox Legendary Lipstick duo is a set of some great ones. The lipsticks come of more sheer than I would like but, you can build up the pigmentation. There is a glossyness to this finish. The wear of these are pretty normal at about 6 hours and there is a need for reapplication after eating and drinking. I find them to be moisturizing and not drying. The color stays put even after the shine wears off after the first few hours. I think these mini size are just perfect for travel, to put in your backpack for school or to put in your purse!

The shades are a nude pink and berry red!

What do you think of my present from my sister? Did you pick up anything on Black Friday? How about any recent holiday sets you think are worth sharing? I would love any comments down below!!

Julep Maven Unboxing: November 2014 Welcome Box

I decided to try a new subscription box! I thought I could use some better nail polish than what I have (I own a lot of the nail polish that is just awful). This +Julep Maven Box gets you 2 polishes and a Makeup/Skincare item in your box every month. If you pay attention to their emails at the beginning of the month, then there is a special extra item you can add for free! The Welcome box is free but, you have to pay $2.99 for shipping (which is a steal),
Here is my first box! It is quite amazing! 3 nail polishes and an eyeliner for $2.99! I even got a 50% off coupon for a future order!

This first shade is a beautiful red shade with a silver gleam to it called maria. Perfect for the holidays! When using this nail polish, I found it dried really fast, gave off a great color with only one coat and was really easy to remove.

This shade is an amazing duo chrome! It has a mixture of red and blue notes with a silver shimmer called Ciara! Definitely my favorite product out of the entire box!

The last nail polish I got is the prettiest soft nude pink with some really pretty silver shimmer in Ava! It is a fantastic color for all year round!
The Julep Gel Eye Glider in Smokey Taupe is AMAZING! The color comes off as a silver shimmer Mauve. If you have ever used the Mally Evercolor Eyeliner or the Rimmel Gel Liner then you know that this is a great product because it performs just like them! It glides on smoothly, has amazing pigmentation and feels great on your lid! This liner is great to wear on its on our to pair it with a smoky eye look.
For $2.99, this box has an INCREDIBLE value. The box has a total value of $58 (Nail polish: $14 a piece and Gel Eye Glider:$16). The value of a normal maven box is quite similar to this so for $19.99 its quite great since everything is full size. As someone who wishes to rebuild their nail polish arsenal with good quality nail polish, I am going to be incredibly happy with this box!

Do you subscribe to the Julep Maven Program? Are you thinking about it? I would love to hear your thoughts!

November 2014 Favorites in Makeup

GUYS I'M DOING BLOGMAS! 12 days straight of finals!!! So finals are now done and my hiatus from blogging will cease! I have been away for quite some time and I am so sorry. But here are my November 2014 Favorites for Makeup:
This Neutrogena Healthy Skin Primer is really great for the price. It has an SPF of 15 so if I don't want a full face of makeup, I just slap on this bad boy and head out the door. I don't really think is helps too much with the longevity of my makeup but, I really like the sunscreen aspect of this primer, which is the main use I have for it.

This is an AMAZING foundation. The Bareminerals Bareskin Pure Brightening Serum Foundations is only $29 (which is on the lower side of prestige brands). It is really easy to blend and I love the way it looks. It has medium to full coverage with only 2 to 3 drops. I literally rarely wear a concealer for this foundation because it makes my skin look great.

This Bareminerals Mineral Veil is a great powder if you don't want any extra coverage. It mattifies and helps put that extra oomf in you looks.

The Maybelline Mineral Blush in Rose provides a perfect natural flush. It is not too shimmery and not too bright of a color. It is easy to apply and a little goes a long way. I have tried a Bareminerals blush before and this seems like a great dupe (best part is it's only $7 compared to the $20+).
The hype is true! The Benefit Watt's up highlight is just perfection. This champagne color gives that natural healthy skin glow we all want. I got this as a gift from sephora for my birthday and I am definitely repurchasing when I am finished (which might be awhile).

This clinique bronzer is gorgeous! I like to use it on special occasion because it is easy to apply to much and it has quite a lot of micro shimmer. Other than that, it is great for the sculpted face look. The color is best for light skin like my fair skin but I doubt it would show up on deeper tones.

Look at those shades! This definitely is NOT an everyday palette but, I look it anyways! Deeper is my favorite out of the bunch! This Urban Decay Dangerous palette has one finish: shimmer. The shades are deeper and the color range is on the color side. For a night out with the girls, it is perfect! The best part is the palette removes and you can still use the case as a makeup bag after you are done with the eyeshadows! I like the lipgloss in this palette too because it isn't bold, which helps to balance out the palette.
The Hikari Lipstick in Cabernet is a great red. I love the finish and the feel. You probably already saw me rave about it in the September 2014 Ipsy unboxing so that's all I have to say. The covergirl Lip Perfection are something you NEED. Seriously. They have a fantastic color range (like at least 30+) and the are moisturizing, have a decent staying power and the finishes can be satin, frosty or glossy! Revlon better look out because these might become a staple!
The Milani Bella Eyeshadow in 02 Sand is the best everyday shadow. It has just enough shimmer to look great on the eye without being too chunky or chalky. The shade is easy to use, super blendable and the texture is ultra soft!

This Sephora eyeliner is the bomb dot com. The pigmentation is something to rival Mally Beauty's Evercolor Eyeliner. The pencil is quite easy to use and you won't experience any tugging when applying. I usually pass over a lot of Sephora products but, this is something worth trying!
