E.l.f Haul 2014 Part 1:Eyes

I finally got my gorgeous +e.l.f. Cosmetics box from the 50% off site wide sale! Yay! I'm gonna warn you now, I went a little crazy (or super crazy) and got over 32 products. To save my lovely readers from enduring a giant post, I will split this haul into three separate post starting with eyes (and you guessed it, next is face and finally lips). I am SO excited, are you? Here is the box that came in the mail:

So cute isn't it? I love that little card on top! I was pretty worried about damaged products because even some of the best beauty youtubers and bloggers have received damaged makeup but, I am happy to report that I did not! The shipping itself was incredibly quick. The product was shipped on 10/22 and I received it on 10/25! It was much quicker than the 5-7 days that the website says is the usual amount. Now onward to reviews!

The E.l.f Eyelid Primer should be a staple in your makeup. It is only $1.00 and is literally the best eyeshadow primer ever. It keeps my shadows in place even in the awful Florida heat and humidity. I can wake up and do my makeup at 8:00 a.m. and it will still look exactly the same after I come back from my evening class at 8:45 p.m. I have tried Lorac's and Urban Decay's eyeshadow and it is just as good at theirs. So, why spend $20 on an eyelid primer when you can spend $1. Just go get it already!

The E.l.f Wet Gloss Lash and Brow Clear mascara was a product that was just experimental for me. I have never tried any type of clear lash mascara or brow gel and thought it would be interesting to see what it does. I feel like it is a pretty cool product! For my eyelashes, it enhances them slightly without saying "yup, I have mascara on". It looks really natural and is nice for a day when I just want to give my eyes a break. I think the brush is pretty standard for a mascara not bad, not super fantastic but, it gets the job done. The brow gel was weird for me. It did keep my brows in place but, it was super easy to apply to much product. To use this, I would definitely need to look at the brush to see if their is too much product on one side. One complaint I have about the packaging is that it would be super easy to mix up the brow gel and clear mascara if you weren't paying attention. For only $1.00, it is still worth it to try it out for yourself.

The E.l.f Natural and Dramatic Lash Kits are really good quality for only $1.00. I tried these out because I have never used false lashes before and they were great. The lashes still look real even though their still a lot longer than my own. They held up throughout the day very well. One complaint from me would be that the lash glue got a little messy and stringy for me. Other than that, you really should go buy some! They're a great value!

Holy mother of smudge pots! THESE ARE THE BOMB DOT COM! The E.l.f Smudge Pots are by far my most favorite product I purchased from them. They are some creamy and incredibly pigmented. The smudge pots do not need any primer at all and are easy to apply with your finger or a brush. Many beauty bloggers say they are similar to Maybelline Color Tattoos, in my opinion, they are MUCH better. I have had Color Tattoos crease on me before but, these bad boys stay in place all day and night. From left to right, the colors are: Back to Basics, Cruisin' Chic, Brownie Points and Poppin Party. The next 50% off sale, my little behind is going on the website and ordering the rest of the line. Seriously, I have never been so impressed by any E.l.f product than this one. It's a home run for me!

Comment down below if you have tried any of these products? Are their any must have eye products from E.l.f. that I didn't order! +1 this post if you liked this and Join the community up at the top left of the page! Of course, check back soon to see my Part 2 and Part 3 of the E.l.f. 50% haul! Thanks for reading!

October 2014 Ipsy Glam Bag Review

It's that time again! Ipsy review time! So I got my bag pretty late this month which made me sad but, the bag alone totally made it worth it! Here's what it looks like:
I love the teal color and the quilted design reminds me of a candy bar (the theme was candy glam this month)! I got 5 products this month but, only 1 is full size, which was super disappointing. The one goo thing about not having all full sized products is that I can add some items to my travel bag. Here are all the products together!
I got this fancy named exfoliate in my bag that has 1 ounce of product. I actually do like this product. It cleaned my pores very well and left my skin feeling incredibly soft and cool. The value of this sample is $9.70 and the full size is $32 for a 3.3 ounce size. This seems super expensive for just a exfoliate so I don't I'll purchase this item.
This is such a better product than last time. The Figs & Rouge Rose Berry creme is awesome and actually leaves my hands soft and smooth instead of dry (which last months did). The scent is very floral but, it is not overpowering and poignant which is what I want in a hand cream. I am disappointed about getting two hand creams in a row so hopefully I don't get another one next month. The product value is $6.56 for this 20 mL size (it is a UK product so it isn't in ounces) and it looks like the company doesn't sell this product anymore and you have to get it through a secondary retailer. I don't like that this is a discontinued product because if I wanted to buy it from the retailer, there would be nothing like it left.
Out of all the products I received, this is literally the biggest disappointment. This is a Nicole by O.P.I product in Feeling Very Cherry. I got literally the exact same color last month. Yes, this is a fall color and yes this is super pretty, but seriously, I girl can only have so much nail polish. This polish is going to find itself a new home because I prefer the Pacifica version better. The Pacifica is not only a vegan product, which is super awesome on their part, but also, it is SUPER fast drying. Nicole by O.P.I is still a good nail polish brand but, Pacifica is just better in general. This product is $5.97 at Walmart.
This ModelCo Volumeyes Mascara is actually really suprisingly great. For a sample size mascara, it is quite big and has a fantastic brush. The brush provides great last separation and volume that last all day. It is a great size for a travel bag and you can't go wrong with a nice black to define your lashes. This product is actually fresh on the market so it is fun trying something new. This product has a maybe $5.00 value (there really wasn't a specific amount on the retailer's website). The real thing cost $20.00. This is a good mascara but, I don't think I'll shell out that much when there are great drugstore ones for much less (I recommend Covergirl LashBlast).
The last product I got was a Starlooks Lip Gloss in Guilty Pleasure is an awesome nude pink with a great shine on it. It is actually pigmented enough to be worn a lone. This sample is TINY at only 0.3 fl oz.but, it is very convenient for travel which is probably when it will be used most. I'm guessing the value is around $4 because the retailer doesn't have the size posted. A full sized product cost $12. At this point, I wouldn't pay that for lip gloss because high end companies like Lorac have super awesome holiday 2014 value sets where you get 6 lip glosses for only $25 (which is less than the drugstore) and they have a great range from pinks to reds.

Overall, this bag had a $31 value for products which is quite good considering it only cost $10. If you would like to sign up for Ipsy, here is a link to do so: Well, that's all for now. It's been a great month for me and I can't wait to see where this blog goes! I hope you will +1, leave a comment and follow me on Google+, Pinterest (girlvcollege) and Twitter (@girlvcollege). You can send me an email at girlversuscollege@gmail.com. Next up will be a MASSIVE E.l.f haul so definitely stay tuned!

Pinterest Finds: Success or Fail? Makeup Brush Cleaning

So I thought I would try a new series on the blog about trying some interesting things on Pinterest. I'll kick this series off with Makeup Brush Cleaning! I have been in the market for a good brush cleaning but I have not been wanting to pay $10 for only a few ounces. So the only thing left to do was search through Pinterest of course. I came across this interesting pin about cleaning brushes with only Olive Oil and Dawn Dish Soap. Here is the original pin by Liz Marie. Basically, you add one part olive oil and one part dish soap in a bowl, swirl your brush around and wash it off with water. But, does it work? Lets find out! Here are my brushes beforehand:

Step one: One part Olive Oil and One part Dish Soap

Step 2: Swirl your Brush in the Mixture
Step 3: Rinse the Brushes Under Warm Water
Step 4: Let the Brushes Dry Off

The Ruling:

SUCCESS
Literally the most clean I have seen my brushes since they came out of their packaging. You could really tell it was working too because I saw the color on the tops of the Real Techniques Brushes turn back to the original white instead of the beige color they were from the foundation and powder for the Face brushes. I think this will be the best way to clean my brushes because it uses ingredients I will always have in the my pantry. What do you think? Will you try this or have you tried this? Sound off in the comments!

Dollar Tree Haul October 2014

Awesome Products at a Great Value!
I recently hit 200 views on my blog and I thought to celebrate I would do a super mini haul at Dollar Tree! I'm sure you have seen on YouTube, Blogger, Facebook, Pinterest, etc. the great values you can get at Dollar Tree. Many name brand products sold in drugstores and supermarkets send their product overflow or discontinued products to Dollar Tree and many times you can get some amazing savings! For this tiny haul, I picked up four name brand makeup products to ad to my collection:

The first product was actually a necessity. My real techniques base shadow brush is awesome but, I wish it had much more dense hairs so that I could pack on eyeshadow easily. I found this E.l.f. Professional Blending Eye Brush in the makeup aisle and I love it! It is very soft and dense and I just used it last night and the amount of shadow you can put on your eyelid at once is quite impressive! This might just be my new favorite brush! This is actually $1 at eyeslipsface.com so the savings aren't the best but, E.l.f. can be so hard to come by in stores that it's great that Dollar Tree has them since Dollar Tree is only 5 minutes from my dorm!
Next up for review is the Sally Hansen Moisture Twist 2-in-1 Primer+Color in Peach Smoothie. I was so excited to try this product because I have never had a Sally Hansen makeup product (but I have plenty of their nail polish). Honestly, the packaging sold this product for me! It is so cute and sleek! It looks nice to display in my acrylic makeup caddy! The color payoff for this product is fabulous! I can wear this alone and not worry that it only makes my lips look shiny and nothing else. Of course with any lip gloss, you will have to reapply after eating. This lip gloss is $4.99 regular price at amazon.com so that is 80% savings!
I am ashamed to say the I was a UCF Knight without any gold nail polish (sad face). So I was stoked when I found this Revlon Top Speed Nail Polish in 830 Golden. The color is gorgeous and you really only need one coat for full coverage. This nail polish claims it is fast drying but, it was NOT. It took 10 minutes to harden from the liquid consistency and 30 minutes to fully set. Other than that, I think its a pretty good nail polish. This polish is $6.90 on amazon.com which is an impressive 86% savings!
The last thing I picked up was a totally new type of product for me. This is the L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Nail Lingerie Limited Edition Diamond Collection in 701 Bling Addict. I always want to have awesome nail designs but, I am totally awful at doing them. These nail stickers make it so easy for me to have the best nails without the struggle of doing it myself. These are so easy to apply and there is no need for a top coat. They can be apply over dry nail color (I used Rimmel London Lasting Finish Pro in 370 Wild Orchid which I found on clearance at Target and is sold on amazon.com). They provide a great look for only $1.  This has a giant original price of $8.95 at amazon.com which means this has almost a 90% savings. Let me repeat that, 90% SAVINGS!!
Hopefully you will run down to your closest Dollar Tree and find some awesome savings. While I was there, I did see Milani Nail Polish and other E.l.f. brushes. Comment down below if you have any Dollar Tree finds you may have and I will definitely look into it! See you next time!!

Amazing Lip Products 2014

LIP PRODUCTS!!!
So if you have read my blog since the beginning, you probably know that I just love any and all lip products. I love the nudes, the pinks, the plums (especially the plums) and the reds. So I thought it was about time I shared all my favorite lip products at the moment. Some of them are probably not a surprise but, some of them might be! So lets get started! I have 9 products I will provide reviews for today. Here they are:

Lip liners should definitely be a staple in your makeup collection. For me, I don't like spending a ton of money for these because I typically were tinted lip balms to class instead of full on lipstick looks. So basically, I don't use lip liners often enough to justify spending $20 on a Mac or other high end liners. I have experimented with TONS of drugstore liners and I was really surprised that Ulta is my absolute favorite. Normally they range from $7 to $8 but...... Ulta runs $1 sales for their lip liners like every two months. My favorite from their line is the automatic lip liner and contour lip liner. These are so incredibly creamy and the pigmentation is impressive. They last very long even after you lipstick is destroyed by your lunch time meal. I sometimes like to wear these alone if I want just a matte look or counterbalance a bright eye. The colors from bottom to top are:

  • Ulta Contour Lip Liner in Flesh at Ulta
  • Ulta Automatic Lip Liner in Bloom
  • Ulta Lip Liner in Scarlet

The next products are some lip glosses (sorta). The Mally Beauty High Shine Liquid Lipstick is definitely more of a lip gloss for me. It is really pigmented with micro glitter but, it is not super longer wearing and will require reapplication after eating (which is why I don't consider it a lipstick). It is not sticky at all and has a great shiny finish, like the name says. It is a nude pink color that I absolutely love. I bought this in the Bulletproof Essentials Starter Kit, which is $49. I don't think I would buy this at $20 because you can find cheaper and similar alternatives and QVC runs some great deals for kits at Christmas. The Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss is stunning both on its own and over a red lip. It is surprisingly more long wearing than I thought. It last close to 6 hours and even still have some shine and color after eating. I bought this in a 5 gloss kit last Christmas. It was originally $24 but, I got it a week or two after Christmas so it was on clearance for $12!

  • Mally Beauty High Shine Liquid Lipstick in Starburst at Ulta
  • Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Ruby (this is a link for a similar kit ) at Sephora

This is probably the most used lip products in my collection. It is the L'Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Stick in Merino Mauve (bottom) and Pink Cashmere (top). These are the creamiest and most moisturizing lip products I own and the are fantastic for school. They can go on sheer or build up for better pigmentation. They are so great for dry lips but, the color doesn't last after lunch so reapplying is necessary. I don't think that these products are sold anymore but they are probably similar to the Lip Balm in the Colour Riche line. I bought these at Target on clearance so it might still be at your local Target!
Last is my favorite lip products right now. The Hikari Lipstick in Cabernet came in my Ipsy bag for September 2014 and it is absolutely gorgeous! It is the prettiest red/plum lipstick with a satin finish. It is soooooooooooooo pigmented and last ALL DAY. I have never reapplied and I literally only need one sparing coat for awesome coverage of my lips. It's $13 off Hikari's website, which is middle of the road price for lipstick but, I think it is totally worth it. The next is the Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense in #34. It is the best textured lipstick I own, it is so creamy and has never dried out my lipstick. It is $20 (yikes) at Sephore but, I think it was absolutely worth it.
So that's it! Comment down below if you liked this review and any lip products you love so I can check out some gems I might be missing! See you next time!!!

September 2014 Beauty Favorites

It's the BEST Time of the Month
From my experience as a beauty lover and constant researcher of the best and most effective beauty products, I find monthly favorites super helpful. For me, monthly favorites means something you will reach for almost daily because it works really well and it just is an all around great bunch of products. So this month, I decided it was time for me to round up some of the products that were a staple for me so here they are:

The first favorite of this month is Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipstick in 825 Lovers Coral with a Shine Finish ($4.99 at Target). It is a gorgeous warm coral that is sheer when first applied but can definitely be built up into a full color. I found this color was perfect for an end of summer, early fall color. It lasted all day with only on reapply after eating. The downside is that is really won't fit into a fall/winter wardrobe since it is a summery color. But...... Revlon has a WIDE range of colors and finish in their Super Lustrous line so it would not be hard to find a lipstick to work into your fall makeup must haves.
The next item on my favorites list is the Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in 255 Kiss Me Color ($4.99 at Target). What's a lipstick without a beautiful matching lip gloss for a night out with the girls? This is a perfect match for the Lovers Coral lipstick. A funny thing I might add is that I found the lip gloss to be more pigmented than the lipstick. So, if you want an all day, high pigmented color then this combo is just right for you. The lip gloss is shiny when first applied and the high shine will last for a few hours after applying. Even when the shine fades, the color is still there making this an absolutely well worth purchase!
The Sephora Outrageous Volume Mascara was actually an impulse of mine. The price, regularly is $15 a piece. But..... wait for it..... it was part of a three piece set a while back in which I also got a Sephora Black Eyeliner Pencil and Glitter Liquid Eyeliner all for $15 so it was basically only $5. For Sephora, that's a steal! I am so glad I did purchase this because it is absolutely stunning. My lases look instantly fuller without any clumps or spidery lashes. I definitely wouldn't recommend purchasing this at full price because there are better mascara for much cheaper. If you can get this in the kit, which may pop up at Christmas time, it is for sure worth it.
The Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Eyeliner in 005 Nude ($4.49 at Ulta) is the best waterline eye pencil a girl can have. It is the perfect color to put on your lower eyelid rim to make you look more awake and alert. For a girl in college like me who runs on very little sleep, I can use all the help I can get. This also makes a great rim liner rather than a black one because I, personally, have found that black liners on the lower lip make the eyes look smaller and the overall eye look too dark even if I only have a nude shadow on. So instead of a black liner, I reach for this nude one daily. Although it is a little pricey for a standard kohl eyeliner pencil, Rimmel always puts $1.00 off there products in the paper and the run bogo 50% and 40% at Ulta all the time so it is rare you should ever have to pay full price (Ulta also has $3.50 off of $10 for the drugstore brands so you could pick up some other products at the same time).
The next product I want to talk about is actually not available in stores anymore (sad face). It i the Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal Collection in 65 Gold Rush ($5.99 at Target). There is a similar one in the regular Color Tattoo line that is called Bold Gold but, I believe this product has a less metallic finish. I love this product because you NEVER need a primer. It can also be used as a primer if you want to put a match shadow on top or combine a few shadows to make an awesome look. Since I am a UCF Golden Knight, this shadow is perfect to show off my school pride. I love wearing this shadow to football games because even in the incredibly hot Florida sun, this shadow stays right in place. It is one of the best products I own!

For us college girls, we want to look our best without overdoing it. The Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Skin Perfecter in Light Sheer Tint ($7.19 at Target) can do just that. It evens out redness and provides a light coverage with acne and other skin imperfections. If you are expecting a good coverage of imperfections then a BB cream is not for you. If you want something to give your complexion that little bit of extra greatness for a quick run to the store, shopping with your besties or heading out to that looooooong lecture than you will not go wrong with this product. It is just an absolute win from Maybelline!
I noticed while writing this blog that Maybelline has dominated the favorites this month and I must say it is quite alright. They are a tried and true makeup brand that hasn't failed me yet. This next product seems like a underrepresented product for Maybelline. In the blogger world, I haven't seen anyone really review it. But, that's not stopping me! The Maybelline Mineral Power Naturally Luminous Blush in Original Rose is such a beautiful blush for us pale girls! It is not overpowering for the skin and adds just enough color to the cheeks without looking like a clown. Because of my light Irish skin, it is hard to find a blush that won't look too dark for me even if I only add barely any. This product is just perfect for me. It is long lasting and doesn't flake off or fade away. The pigmentation is great. The one downside is that the product wouldn't be great for traveling because it is a loose powder. But, I'm sure you could find a similar one in the Dream Bounce blush line.
Well, that's all for now. I would definitely appreciate any and all feedback. Tell me in the comments what you would like to see next. What are your monthly favorites? Did you try any of my go to products for this month? Thanks for reading and see you next time!

October 2014 Ipsy Glam Bag: Preview

Ipsy Glam Bag Preview
I GOT MY IPSY BAG PREVIEW AND I LOVE MY PRODUCTS! Sorry about the caps I'm just sooooooooo excited. The bag is so cute and reminds me of a candy bar:
Blue is my favorite color so I might be biased about the bag but, I think it is very cute and can't wait to add it to my collection!!
The first product I got was the Epice Purifying Exfoliant. Exfoliants are always great to put in the skincare regiment for any woman. They effectively clear pores and blackheads. Here's a warning though, don't use exfoliants too often because it can deteriorate the natural protective layer on your face (yikes) according to my facialist at Ulta.
The second product I will receive in my bag is the Figs and Rouge Mango Mandarin. I am very apprehensive about this product because the hand cream I received last month was very weird and drying. Hopefully this one is better and smells good.
The third product I am getting is the ModelCo VOLUMEYES Extreme Black Mascara. Although I have tons of mascara (including another Ipsy product this month: the Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara), I have never tried anything from this brand so it might be nice to see if I like this mascara better than the others I own.
The next product I will be receiving is a Nicole by OPI nail polish. I already own Nicole by OPI nail polishes so I know this brand is great. However, I don't own this dark of a color. The Pacifica Nail polish I got last month hopefully is more red than this otherwise I really wouldn't need this product. This seems more brown than red so I'll cross my fingers.
Last but certainly not least is the Starlooks Lip Glos (yay!). I love lip products and probably have an obsession with them so I am incredibly excited for this product!

October Ipsy 2014 Sneak Peeks

A sneak peek of October's Glam Bag!
October 2014 Ipsy Sneak Peek #1
This sneak peak is over a week old now but, it's still really awesome! This month's Ipsy seems very heavily reliant on eye products. I, personally, hope that I don't get any mascara because I already have way too much. I would love to get the Skone Tattoed Eyeliner, the Mica Beauty Mineral Eye Shadow, or the Jesse's Girl Mineralized Baked Powder Eye Shadow. I either do not own any of these types of products in my collection or I only own one of a different brand. The colors for these collection are very pretty. Here are all the products pictured above:
  • MICA Beauty Mineral Eye Shadow Earth Colors
  • Jesse’s Girl Mineralized Baked Powder Eye Shadow
  • Doll 10 Conceal it Concealer (I think)
  • Skone Tattooed Eyeliner
  • ModelCo Volumeyes Extreme Black Mascara
  • Revlon Bold Laquer Mascara
  • NYC Big Bold Curl Mascara

October 2014 Ipsy Sneak Peek #2

My biggest beauty weakness is by far any and all lip products. The colors here range quite a bit from pinks to a deep red. The theme for Ipsy this month is Beauty Candy and it looks so cute! I am dying to see what the bag looks like now! Here are the products in the pictures above:

  • Starlooks Lip Gloss: Huge color selection so it is hard to narrow down the name of the color
  • Noyah Lipstick: It might be the Empire Red Color
  • City Color Matte Lipstick: Can't quite tell this color but it looks pretty.
So I am very excited for this October 2014 Ipsy Glam Bag!

October 2014 Ipsy Sneak Peek #3
If you subscribe to the Ipsy emails then you would already know about this next sneak peak. My guess for the next sneak peek would be either face products like powder or body products such as lotion. These products pictured have already been (hopefully correctly) cataloged so check the other sneak peeks to see what they are!
October 2014 Ipsy Sneak Peek #4

I guessed it right! Ipsy's new sneak peek is all about body products. I have never heard of any of these brands but, that doesn't mean anything. Knowing Ipsy, they are probably a group of fantastic products to try. Here is the new products picture:
  • Rogue by Rihanna perfume (most likely a sample size in the Ipsy bag)
  • Ayres Body Butter or Body Polish
  • Figs & Rouge Hand Cream in Mango Mandarin and Rose Berry
These products look really fun to try. I hope the hand cream this month is more hydrating than last month. If your interested in a review of last months products than just look no further than this page! I am so excited for this month's products! There is a great group of new and interesting items to try and hopefully fall in love with! What do you think? Are you excited for Ipsy's products? I know I am! Sound off in the comments!
October 2014 Ipsy Sneak Peek #5

I can't believe there is even more face products! Yay! They look really interesting and nice to try. Here are the products listed in this Sneak Peek:
  • Epice Purifying Exfoliate
  • Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser
  • Skyn Iceland Glacier Cleansing Clothes
Looking at these products makes me super excited. Cleansing clothes are something every girl needs to take off her makeup and is basically a staple in my collection. I love using the Simple Cleansing Clothes but I am open to trying a new brand. The Indie Lee is interesting because I have never used a brightening cleanser before so it would be great to see how it works. The Exfoliate is usually great for removing blackheads so I wouldn't mind getting this in my basket. I can't wait for the next (and last) Ipsy Sneak Peek tomorrow! Check back tomorrow and I'll have the last sneak peek up around noon!
